· Changed the platform string for the Mac OsX platform from "Mac" to "OS X"

Nachdem das Tox-Projekt vergangene Woche seinen auf Sicherheit und Peer-to-Peer-Betrieb ausgelegten Instant-Messenger Tox im Quelltext vorgestellt hatte, finden sich im Internet nun erste ausführbare Programme für Linux und Windows.

Diese stammen allerdings nicht vom Tox-Projekt selbst: Die Linux-Fassung auf dem Build-Server von OpenSuse umfasst offenbar neben der Kernkomponente Tox-Core auch eine auf Qt aufsetzende grafische Oberfläche.

Die Beschreibung zum Tox-RPM-Paket weist zudem auf die Webseite tox.someguy123.com hin: Dort kann man ein ZIP-Archiv mit einem einfachen Tox-Text-Client herunterladen, der ohne weitere Installation nach dem Entpacken unter Windows läuft. Wie auch auf tox.someguy123.com angemerkt wird, dient dieses Paket für schnelle und bequeme Tests. Man sollte es also nicht auf Produktivsystemen laufen lassen, es auf Schadsoftware prüfen und das Programm beim Testen in virtuelle Umgebungen sperren.
