The Phresh media player is a simple and intuitive desktop app for Windows, Mac and Linux. It plays media files.. end of story.

In turn, I pays great attention to the naturality, easy and clear usage with much (and usual) keyboard shortcuts and some mouse gestures.
The player has an right click menu also for more powerful support the handling.

PhreshPlayer knows read the ‘.srt’ subtitles also.

MPC-HC (Media Player Classic Home Cinema) is an Open Source media player that supports most video and audio file formats.

MPC-HC was designed to play every available format, but not just for fancy, high-end rigs, but also for older computers and processors going back to Windows 2000.

Similar to other players, the focus is what's on the screen. The top bar has access to many settings including File, View, Play, Navigate, and help. At the bottom, you will find familiar, easy to use controls to play, go forward or backward, pause, volume, and more.

    On Win 7 the theme color was hard coded to DarkSlateGrey because WPF was returning a bad color on Win 7, this was fixed by reading the theme color from the Registry on Win 7. If the theme color is identical to the background color it's corrected

SmoothVideo Project (SVP) allows you to watch any video on your PC file with frame interpolation (like you can watch it on high-end TVs and projectors). It increases frame rate by generating intermediate animation frames between existing ones to produce very smooth, fluid and clear motion. The technology is well-known for a while ("TrimensionDNM", "Motion Plus", "Motionflow" and others), but now it's available for free to PC users with simple GUI and just a couple of mouse clicks.

Since version 3.0 SVP provides GPU acceleration and now it's possible to watch FullHD 1080p-video recalculated to 60Hz in real-time on any modern GPU hardware. Here is the speed comparsion (*) between CPU-only mode and GPU accelerated:

    Gpu-api vulkan was not working if media files were opened via command line (that included Explorer)

    New setting auto-load-folder added, for single files automatically load the entire directory into the playlist, previously this was forced, now it can be disabled
    New setting themed-menu added, follow theme color in context menu, default: no. UI related settings have now a separate UI tab in the config editor
