Wer sich einen Überblick über aktive Prozesse des Rechners und Servers verschaffen will, dem steht mit dem Process Explorer der Sysinternals Suite ein hilfreiches Tool zur Seite. Der Process Explorer liefert in zwei Fenstern die gewünschten Informationen. Dabei zeigt das obere immer die aktiven Prozesse mit zugehörigen Konten an, während in dem unteren abhängig vom gewählten Modus entweder die geöffneten Handles des ausgewählten Prozesses erscheinen oder die geladenen DLLs und Dateien mit zugewiesenem Speicher. Mit Hilfe der Suchfunktion lassen sich zudem Prozesse finden, die bestimmte DLLs und Dateien geladen haben.

"Don't Sleep" ist ein kleines Programm, welches während der Laufzeit verhindert, daß der PC in den Standby Modus oder Ruhezustand wechselt. Gerade beim neuen Windows-7, wie auch Vista, gibt es den Hybriden Standby-Modus. Dieser ist ziemlich aggressiv, und aktiviert sich auch teilweise bei höherer CPU-Last.

"Partition Wizard" ist ein einfach zu bedienendes Gratis-Tool zur Partitionierung Ihrer Festplatte.

Na wunderbar: Der PC lahmt, und das nur, weil die System-Partition zugemüllt ist. Und dabei wäre an und für sich ja noch genug Platz auf der Festplatte. Die Lösung: Richten Sie sich eine zweite Partition ein, auf der Sie sämtliche Multimedia-Dateien speichern. Ganz einfach geht das mit der Freeware "Partition Wizard".

Zwar ist das Tool nur mit englischer Oberfläche zu bekommen, dafür ist die Bedienung umso einfacher. Partitionen erstellen, löschen oder verkleinern, alles kein Problem. Alles funktioniert per Schieberegler und wenigen Klicks. Und das Beste: sogar das Klonen von Partitionen ist möglich. Unterläuft Ihnen dabei ein Fehler, machen Sie diesen Schritt einfach rückgängig. Auf diese Weise kann nichts passieren.

Fazit: Der "Partition Wizard" ist super einfach zu bedienen, was selbst dem Laien ermöglicht, an seiner Festplatte herumzuspielen.
