Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware schützt vor sogenannten Ransomware-Programmen, die auf dem eigenen Rechner gespeicherte Daten verschlüsseln und nur gegen Lösegeld wieder freigeben.

Schutz vor Locky und anderen Erpressungs-Trojanern

Dazu analysiert die Software das Verhalten von anderen Programmen und blockiert deren Ausführung, bevor Verschlüsselung der eigenen Festplatte stattfindet. Unter anderem hilft das Tool gegen die Ransomware-Varianten Locky, CryptoWall4, CryptoLocker, Tesla und CTB-Locker.

Kein klassischer Virenscanner

Der Hersteller Malwarebytes weist darauf hin, dass die Software ausschließlich vor Erpressungs-Trojanern mit Verschlüsselungsfunktion schützt. Eine Erkennung von anderen Trojanern, Viren oder Spyware ist nicht Teil des Programms. Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware sollte deshalb ergänzend zu einem klassischen Anti-Viren-Programm eingesetzt werden und kann dieses nicht ersetzen.

Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware befindet sich derzeit noch in Entwicklung und ist nur als Beta-Version erhältlich, bietet aber bereits guten Schutz vor Erpressungs-Trojanern.
