Mit dieser Live-CD kann der Rechner gestartet und auf Viren überprüft werden. Beim Start hat man die Möglichkeit, die Virendefinitionen zu aktualisieren. Mit dabei sind auch noch GParted, MemTest86+ und der Chromium-Browser. Wer das Tool lieber auf einen bootfähigen USB-Stick bringen möchte, kann dazu z.B. UNetbootin nutzen.

Unterstützt wird Windows 2000 bis 8.1

Das Avira AntiVir Rescue System ist eine linux-basierte Applikation, die es erlaubt auf Rechner zuzugreifen, die nicht mehr gebootet werden können.

Auf diese Weise kann es möglich sein:
- ein beschädigtes System zu reparieren
- Daten zu retten
- eine Überprüfung des Systems auf Virenbefall duchzuführen

Das Rescue System kann nach dem Herunterladen per Doppelklick auf eine CD/DVD gebrannt werden.
Diese CD kann dann benutzt, um einen Rechner zu booten. Das Avira Antivir Rescue System wird mehrmals täglich aktualisiert, so dass immer die aktuellsten Sicherheitsupdates zur Verfügung stehen. Der hier getätigte Download ist jeweils die aktuelle Version.

Es besteht auch die Möglichkeit, die Updates (ca. 20MB) separat bei Avira zu laden (Download). Diese können dann mit einer 2. CD oder von der Festplatte in das gestartete Rescue-System eingebunden werden.
