Balabolka is a feature-rich program to read text aloud from a variety of file types including DOC, RTF, PDF, ODT, FB2 and HTML. The program uses Microsoft's own Speech API 4 and 5, but lets you fine tune various voice parameters, including rate and pitch, and a substitution list can also be applied to improve the quality of the voice's articulation. The program supports customized font and background color, skins, control reading from the system tray or by the global hotkeys.

Balabolka can also save the synchronized text to external LRC files or in MP3 tags inside the audio files. When the audio file is played with players on a computer or on modern digital audio players, the text will be displayed synchronously (in the same way as lyrics for songs).

Also includes batch conversion tools from of a wide variety of document formats to audio or plain text and a file compare tool, file splitter, and screen magnification window.

FontViewOK sorgt für schnellen Überblick auch bei großen Beständen installierter Schriften am PC. Die Freeware startet ohne jede Installation, kann also auch portabel von USB-Sticks aus genutzt werden.

Der in FontViewOK eingebaute Schriftenbetrachter zeigt nach dem Programmstart eine Liste aller vorhandener Fonts mitsamt einer Schriftprobe an. Anhand welcher Zeichenfolge FontViewOK die Vorschau anzeigen soll, kann der User selbst bestimmen, ebenso die Größe der Preview. Dabei lässt sich FontViewOK auf eine Zwei-Fenster-Ansicht umschalten. Auf diese Weise vergleicht man komfortabel zwei Schriften miteinander.

Mit FontViewOK behalten Anwender einfach und schnell den Überblick über ihre installierten Schriftarten in Windows. Auf Wunsch druckt die Freeware eine tabellarische Auflistung der Fonts sogar in Papierform aus.

SoundSwitch makes it easier to switch playback devices (sound cards).

Normally, to switch a playback device you need to right click the sound icon in the bottom right corner of your screen (system tray), choose 'Playback Devices' and then change the Default Playback Device. Every time you want to switch.

With SoundSwitch you just configure once between which playback devices you want to toggle and then you can press Ctrl+Alt+F11 to toggle automatically!

DShutdown is a stand-alone program that allows you to easily shutdown and wake up local or remote PCs, with many specific options.

DShutdown supports more than just standard shutdown options, there are options relating to "pure" shutdown (such as the "force after wait" option which causes a forced, but 'clear' shutdown). There are monitoring options that allow you to shutdown a PC after a particular application terminates (useful at the end of compressing several files). There are also options to shutdown a PC when Internet traffic reduces below a particular data-rate (useful to shutdown a PC when it has finished a large download).

DSpeech is a text-to-speech program with the option of saving the output to a variety of formats, great for creating audio books from text sources. It also supports dynamically changing the features of the voices eg. insert pauses, emphasize specific words, spell them out etc. using tags.

The program can import text from TXT, DOC, DOCX, RTF, HTML, XML, and PDF and output to MP3, OGG, AAC, WMA.

DSpeech works out-of-the-box on WinXP and above because the Microsoft speech engine SAPI5 is included by default. For WinNT/2K, you will need to install the speech engine separately. You will find links to plugins, speech engines and voice sets on the program website.

    Known bugs:

    When selecting a shortcut to a folder in the drop down menu of a file selection dialog, under java 1.6, Yapbam hangs. In fact, this is not a Yapbam bug, but a java1.6 bug. The best way to fix the problem is use java 1.7.
    On MacOS, The copy/paste shortcut is ctrl C/V and not Command C/V. Unfortunately, this is a bug in java JTextField and can't be fixed.
    On windows, using other themes than Nimbus makes description and comment columns not to be correctly vertically aligned (seems to be a Java bug).

    Bug fixes:

    The tooltip of the export button in "Balance history/Transactions" tab was not an understandable sentence.
    Some fixes in Italian translation.
