Sniptool is a straightforward portable screen capture tool that includes the ability to annotate captures.

This tool is tastefully presented from within a sleek utilitarian interface that lends itself to quick and easy operation. All items available for use are displayed on the main screen along with a settings menu on the lower right corner that provides you with some minor adjustment capabilities like pencil stroke width and highlighter for instance. The color choices are limited, however.

Sniptool isn't a complex tool and does have a few idiosyncrasies like a new image will overlap the previous requiring you to delete the old one before proceeding but this isn't a deal killer as it does provide a simple way to capture screenshots without needing to install it.

TrayBlank is a quick way to activate a screensaver or shut down your monitor right from the systray.

Once you have TrayBlank on your machine you can simply double-click the systray icon and whatever screensaver you have set will start, if you don't remember which one is set simply hover over the icon and it will display the screensaver and what the timeout is set to. This icon additionally shows you when the screensaver is about to launch. You can also right-click the icon for a menu that will permit you to set hotkeys, turn the monitor off, start screensaver, configure screensaver, choose screensaver, set timeout, and set delayed start.

TrayBlank 1.10 is a small update that does something really useful. Well, I will find it useful anyway. I'm not really sure if anyone else finds TrayBlank useful at all. Maybe I'm just making it less useless.

Up until now TrayBlank's progress bar has shown the progress until the screen saver starts. Unfortunately, it didn't take one important thing into consideration - the power management settings. I kept seeing the progress bar chugging along before the screen went black as the monitor switched off without the screen saver starting up.

The update adds in the monitor power-off time to the icon tooltip, and also changes the progress bar when the screen saver is going to be preempted by the power management settings. Instead of the solid bar that gradually changes from blue to red, the bar will be a sort-of zig-zag line in yellow. I tried quite a few shapes and colour combinations, but this seemed like the one that was most obviously different from the normal progress bar.

The only other thing to mention is that this version will not work on Windows XP, but anyone still using XP at the end of 2019 has more things to worry about than just TrayBlank not working.
