Sofern eingestellt, sichert BackUp Maker automatisch (entweder zeitgesteuert, oder z.B. bei der Windows-An- oder Abmeldung.
Die Sicherung kann gesplittet, gepackt (ZIP-Format) und verschlüsselt (256-Bit / AES) werden.




Als Sicherungsziel können USB-Platten, Netzwerk,  FTP-Server oder sonstige Laufwerke ausgewählt werden - auch ein direktes Brennen auf CD/DVD ist möglich.Möchte man Backups von verschiedenen Zeitpunkten haben, können auch mehrere Backup-Generationen angelegt werden.

Nach der Installation startet das Programm automatisch mit und öffnet ein Fenster.
Wer dieses Verhalten abschalten möchte, muss dazu in die Aufgabenplanung gehen.

Syncless 2.0  ist ein kostenloses (Open Source) Programm um Ordner unter Windows zu synchronisieren. Dabei zeichnet es sich meiner Meinung nach durch seine einfachen Bedienbarkeit aus. Zu synchronisierende Ordnerpaare müssen nicht umständlich per Hand eingetragen werden, einfaches Drag & Drop auf das Programmfenster reicht.

Syncless ist portabel, legt aber beim ersten Start Kontextmenü-Einträge an, um Ordner schnell zu synchronisieren, dieses könnt ihr aber in den Einstellungen deaktivieren. Ihr könnt nicht nur zwei Ordner synchronisieren, sondern auch mehrere. Dabei könnt ihr einstellen, ob Syncless diese Ordner dauernd auf Veränderungen prüft, oder ihr das händisch erledigen wollt (Manual vs. Seamless).

Ihr könnt den kompletten Ordnerinhalt synchronisieren, oder auch mit Filtern arbeiten, sodass bestimmte Dateitypen nichts synchronisiert werden.In den Einstellungen lässt sich auch festlegen, wie mit gelöschten Dateien umgegangen werden soll. Diese können sofort in den Papierkorb verschoben werden, oder aber auch aufbewahrt werden. Im Aufbewahrungsmodus sind bis zu 10 Änderungen speicherbar.

Gute News aus dem Hause Dropbox: selektives Synchronisieren ist bald mit drin. Sinnvoll sicherlich nur für Menschen, die ein paar mehr Computer ihr Eigen nennen. Selektive Synchronisation bei Dropbox bedeutet, dass ihr auswählen könnt, welche Ordner auf welchem Computer synchronisiert werden.

So könnt ihr zum Beispiel einstellen, dass euer Musik-Ordner auf Rechner A und B synchronisiert wird, aber nicht auf C. Tolles Feature, bleibt aber zu hoffen, dass bald das Synchronisieren freier Ordner auf dem Computer möglich wird.

Hammer! Bisher gab es bei Dropbox maximal 5 (2 GB Start-Space und 3 GB durch Einladungen an Freunde) Gigabyte kostenlos, nun bekommt man durch Einladungen / Empfehlungen bis zu 10 Gigabyte kostenlos. Wahnsinn. Das macht den Dienst, den ich seit schon seit längerem nutze und beobachte noch besser.
