FreeFileSync synchronisiert Daten zwischen mehreren Rechnern im gleichen Netzwerk.Außerdem kann man Sicherheitskopien von Ordnern/Dateien auf beliebigen Medien anlegen.Für die Kopiervorgänge kann ein Zeitintervall vorgegeben werden, so muss man sich nicht mehr selber darum kümmern.Auf Wunsch kann FreeFileSync die Backups komprimieren.

Sofern eingestellt, sichert BackUp Maker automatisch (entweder zeitgesteuert, oder z.B. bei der Windows-An- oder Abmeldung.Die Sicherung kann gesplittet, gepackt (ZIP-Format) und verschlüsselt (256-Bit / AES) werden.Als Sicherungsziel können USB-Platten, Netzwerk,  FTP-Server oder sonstige Laufwerke ausgewählt werden - auch ein direktes Brennen auf CD/DVD ist möglich.Möchte man Backups von verschiedenen Zeitpunkten haben, können auch mehrere Backup-Generationen angelegt werden.



Nach der Installation startet das Programm automatisch mit und öffnet ein Fenster.
Wer dieses Verhalten abschalten möchte, muss dazu in die Aufgabenplanung gehen.

Partition Saving sichert und kopiert Partitionen und kann diese natürlich auch wieder herstellen. Ünterstützt werden die Dateisysteme FAT 12, 16 und 32, ext2 und NTFS. Der erstellte Image kann komprimiert und aufgesplittet werden.

    add of logging capability to store all error messages in a file. There is no real reason to use this in most cases as it will slow down copy and could generate a very big file in case of damaged disk.
    change of behaviour when "quit=yes" option is given in options file: previously in case of fatal error, user had to click on "Ok" to end; now program exits. If you want to keep previous behaviour, you have to use the "quit=nobadsector" option instead. Please note that on Linux and Windows versions you will still need to press "Enter" key else the terminal could be closed before you can read the message.
