Hello Jack,

sorry for the delay, but I changed my Hardware to a Terratec Cinergy HD Stick.

I just did a short testing: When activating PIP, sound goes mute I don't hear any of the two channels ... I think this is wanted? ;)
Also the sorting of the channels does not work. I sorted by Channel Name and therefore I changed some names with a number in front (so I get a certain order I can choose). But with the new version the numbers seem to be ignored ...

Another thing: If I want to drag the channels in another order by drag and drop, I get an error message, that "drag.bmp" is missing. Therefore nothing can be dragged.

I changed the renderer to direct sound - seems to work.

I already have the channels in my favs. :)
But there the sorting doesn't work either.

howdoe,

like silencer mentioned try other audio renderer for pip (directsound audio renderer might be better).
Does the sort not operate for favorites or for the general view? (if it would be favs that would be somewhat logical coz you should be able to order favs with drag/drop etc however you require without the need for those number tweaks etc, try cut/paste for now since drag/drop doesn't operate well).
The drag/drop issue's just a setup error (some .bmp's i forgot to add to setup), next tst build should correct that. Busy with some other mentioned issues before i make a new setup.

@snoop: about epg. Did you delete previous smarteit.db to be sure (if there) (some structural eit db modifications which might be interefering, dates r calculated different now to try to improve epg speed, so could be bug). Btw what epg do you refer to (smartosd epg  or main epg?)..

ok i see, might be serious date bug then indeed. Do the time not correspond to the current actual time?(so do you see valid times?). If so might they be shifted by 1 hour (no summer/winter daytime savings done correct?), if so i might have some idea (could be utc conversion related).

If I switch to the EPG window, the shown time is correct, when I switch to the normal view, I get EPG data, but it shows the one for the next program. It is not misaligned one hour or another fixed time - it just shows the next program.

Right now I'm doing a real fresh install (I deleted the settings etc folder in my personal folder). Which bda-Device is the better? Florian or the second one?

Does anyone know a good AAC-Decoder?

I still have the EPG-problem ... it shows the next program.
Edit: Correction - now the EPG works correctly suddenly ...  :o

On some HD channels I only get a frozen picture - e.g. Anixe HD and ARTE HD (capital letters). arte HD (small letters) works correctly ...

what is the difference between arte HD and ARTE HD, that's a bit puzzeling? I tested all available HD streams and found no problem. Should not be a Smart bug.

Ok, I'm one step further: "ARTE HD" seems to be encrypted, so this is, why I can't watch it. "arte HD" is FTA, I can watch it without problems.

But anixe HD is not encrypted and with this I only get one standing picture. I will check with another DBA programme ...

Edit: Anixe HD worked with the Terratec DVB-Viewer Edition, it seems to be an audio problem, because in SmartDVB after a minute or so the picture starts moving, but there is no sound or some short sound parts ...

@dada: Which Direct show connections do you use?

@SiLæncer: I have the same settings as you, only I use the MS DTV-DVD-Decoder for Video and h264 and still get only one picture standing ... so the video decoder seems to be the villian. Hm ... I thought, the MS decoder from Win 7 is quite good ...

Found another little bug: Volume control by mouse wheel is buggy. If I scroll the whell further after reaching 100% volume, I have to scroll "the same amount back" until the volume control reacts.

MS dtv indeed's a good codec, but some time ago some connection issues surfaced (after some w7 update), i'll see to look at that better, could be that sometimes there still r some graph issues (not sure why ms decided to modify ds somewhere there). Been busy with the end of the summer (some good weather here) hence the break, but new tst build should be there soon

ok good to know indeed. Btw @snoop: that epg issue you mentioned could be solved too (not sure though i didn't have that issue here). I see a stupid err with the pip connection dialog (other vid renderers then vmr9/evr won't operate so they could be removed there). Otherwise looks good enuff for now. Btw people here looked at the new epg search dialog?

i used the search dialogue a couple of times. Did not see any bugs until now. Search seems to work fine and the scheduling of search results also functions without problems...for now ;)

PIP works fine for me, EPG works fine, the scroll whell bug in the MAIN window is gone, but PIP still has it ... ;)

yes indeed lol, forgot pip volume myself too. So anixe hd operates now ok with ms-dtv? Like mentioned, then it might just've been a sound sync issue. I'm quite sure there still r lots of bugs to locate with this to be released beta, everyone uses/tests just the subset they themselves require ofcourse, besides the new custom lists r quite tricky code so i hope some people look well at that. With respect to the new status graphs do people here like that or do they prefer the previous one? (i had some complaints about the first version, to which i agreed btw quickly made tbh)..

The new status graphs: I personally preferred the older one, but the new ones are looking good. The font size could be a little bit smaller in my taste, but that's only me.

i get the confusion indeed, therefore with this new version i renamed the previous 'custom' list to 'graphical' list, the new user definable lists r the actual custom lists (the new 'custom' tab next to the 'remote' tab, these list should support cut/drop etc (i think dada referred to this at some previous mail :))
You should still be able to use 'legacy' statusbar (view menu), the new one's more made to make more of the app 'skinnable', i'm sure people who like to make skins would like that.

ok,
1) main menu : 'channels > add custom list', i hope what to do at that dialog is obvious, just add a new list which should be shown then at the 'custom' tab (you should be able to add whatever you require there, also order should be definable at that dialog etc).
2) create categories at that custom list (akin to favorites, not required btw no category possibile too with the custom lists)
3) then add 'general' stations to that custom list you created (like with favorites but now ofcourse add to that custom list/category).
etc
eg: i have 'radio stations', 'tv stations' etc for simple tsts.

Little bug in scheduled recordings: If I choose "exit" or "shutdown" at end of recording, it does not work. At the end a window opens and tells me, that there is still an active recording session and it asks if this should be stopped.
The recording time first runs down to 0, but after the new window appears, it shows (at least 5 minutes ago) something about 17 hours of recording time left!

Issue with EPG, at least here: With EPG in  full screen the times shown are GMT (right now -2h), the times shown in the bottom panel of the main screen are correct, however. So scheduling must be done from the bottom panel. Another one might be a feature, not a bug. Depending on the "epg half hour width" teh amount of information is limited. When the time-span bar for the next item  would extend over the "end" time of the epg window it is not shown at all.

I have tested for a few hours now the "beta 1" with my new usb-box " TT-connect S2-3650 CI". I had some fears regarding the CI functionality because I remember that someone with the same box had difficulties in getting pay-tv running with 030 RC. The good news is that I had no problems (had to fumble around with "CI" settings but I've done that before). So far I encountered no real problems and find the program still very powerful yet (for normal tasking like recording, manually setting reordings, etc.) easy to handle. Next test will be a multirecording (starting with recording 2 channels simultaneously on SKY). As I did'nt have any success with this with 030 I am really looking forward to see what happens there with 035 beta 1.

What is not an issue with the program but with the box are the channel change times. From previously 1 - 2 seconds this is now a 5 - 10 seconds affair. Not really annoying but at least a liitle bit a "retro" feeling  ;)

Strange, I am also using an USB box (Tevii) but i do not see any differences in switch times to the PCI card, maybe the CI is the problem.

@rischibie: good to see you once more here too. Uhm, sounds slow indeed, i presume that's for ci stations not encrypted stations? Do you have about the same tune times with other programs?

Hi Jack, that's incorrectly expressed by me. I do not use a CI, I wanted to say that the USB box might not be the problem because the swirch times are sa rapid as with my S2-3200 PCI card.

Another small bug, but I think it startet with Beta 1 as I did not recognice it in PreBeta:
Wenn doing drag and drop with the channes in my favourites, it drops on position too low.

Maybe the extended switch times were caused by a broiken Diseq switch - I will test that tomorrow (when I get one by a friend).Being plugged only to Hotbird (as of today) the switch times were indeed much faster.

Multirecording: To start with I recorded with my Sky (German) card and an Alphacrypt light in the CI simultaneously "Sky Cinema HD" and "Sky Sport HD 1". No problems, both recordings showed up and after a quick look at the recordings I saw no errors. Might be that Jack got now his first report for successfull recording with an USB-box and Alphacrypt light and a Sky card  :)

I was having a minor problem with receiving BBCOne and Two HD on 28.2 with sdvb 0.3.5 beta1. It was scanned by the scanner but only showed a black screen after selecting the channel. The reason was that in the 0282.ini the fec was set wrongly to 8/9 and I had not set fec to "auto". Correction to 2/3 solved the problem. As said, quite a minor problem ;)

@dada: noted, do you sync with kingofsat etc? Might be the best solution for now, .ini's r outdated once more.
@ritchubie: good to know, switch times of 4+ secs do indeed seem much too much, never seen a device that's that slow. Still one could not exclude it from perhaps being app diseqc bug or some other issue.
@snoop: noted, drag/drop should drop below the selected item, never above (i'll make the drop images reflect this, during development of that I initially dropped above the items, but later decided to modify that coz I found it more convenient at some situations).
btw once more excuses for somewhat belated response here, but once more we had quite some good post summer weather here, better make some good use of that we know what winter's like over here, so enough long winter coding nights at store.

maybe i was not clear enough what i meant before ... e.g. when using sdvb in fullscreen mode on second monitor ... when not using smartOSD ... it would be very useful in my eyes to have the same conext menu option ´station list´ etc. like in the pips .. e.g to open a pip on the first monitor ..

ok silencer. Still some issues reported/found (on my own forum etc) so good that it's still beta. I understand now, i'll make sure that's added sounds logical ofcourse (it's there with the windowed mode also ofcourse, I don't use fullscreen mode that much myself :)..

Hi,

Tested the PIP function with Alphacrypt Light-CAM. Encrypted channels would not appear in the PIP window (1,2,3) whereas non encrypted channels on the same transponder would show up. All other functions I tested like manual recording, manual recording time setting, programmed shutdown a.o.) are functioning very well.

PIP with ci would have issues atm, to be able to decrypt multiple stations at the same time special ci sdk calls r needed, which have to be implemented by the sdk too, I know for technotrend this exists but isn't implemented (also due to reports I read of instability when using those functions). So for the future, unless you're able to access this once more through some plugin which would request or handle this somehow.

ich schreibe jetzt mal nicht englisch, ist dann bestimmt auch für Jack leichter zum Lesen...  ;)

Wenn ich mit SDVB eine Aufnahme zB. von ZDF HD-ts oder Pro7 SD-ts mache, kann SDVB die eigene Aufnahme nicht abspielen und stürzt dann mit laufenden Error Reports ab.
Eine Aufnahme von 3sat SD-ts kann man abspielen, allerdings ohne Ton. Mit VLC kann man die Aufnahmen problemlos abspielen.
.mpg-Aufnahmen enthalten weder Bild noch Ton.

...oder hab ich was falsch eingestellt...?  :)

@stuart: what's ur codec settings (video/audio?) for media with sdvb? Or do you have this issue with different codec settings? Are you able to get media play to work at all. Might be some specific source directshow filter that's selected for .ts.

With what tool do you try to play the .mpg streams (do they also not operate with sdvb media play?), or do you have mpg issue with specific video/audio type (sd/hd/ac3/etc?)? (if with vlc i remember vlc does sometimes have issues with this for mpg ps streams, you might need to set vlc input/codec demuxer to something like avformat demuxer). I just made some records just to make sure it's not broken.

I can not play files recorded with SDVB with SDVB. With VLC I can play all the media easily.

You have an 'encoder' selected for ac3 decoder, this won't work correct ofcourse. But that's not related to your media play issue, for some reason at your system that fails. The same codecs/renderes should be used by media play, which simply uses something called directshow intelligent connect. Do the .ts files play ok with other players like windows media player? Vlc isn't a good testcase for comparison because it uses internal codecs (which is why sometimes when you have directshow configuration issues vlc works correct compared to other players). I presume you tried other video codec to rule out it's cyberlink related. Did you install perhaps some codec packs? I might imagine there could be some issue with the .ts (transport stream) demultiplexer/splitter that might be used by media play.  I could send you a test with some hardcoded well known splitter like haali media splitter or lav splitter to rule out it's some problem with that?

a smartdvb user made an interesting beta webinterface tool (using vlc) which might be of interest to some here too (if you have questions etc regarding this please post them at the smartdvb url given here so the author reads them too). It includes an embedded viewer to watch smartdvb live tv remotely even with some web station switching enabled, still quite basic but nice to play with. A patched version of the 0.3.5 beta 2 is also needed for udp/command line parameter usage to work correct so make sure you copy that first before trying this webinterface (patch included at the given url).

(edit: btw @stuart: the mentioned patch also has a modification for media file play, you should be able to set preffered splitter at tools > settings > media setting, that might allow you to play media files better)..

Just a quick evaluation of SmartDVB 0.3.5.7 (beta 3):

Found no errors when using Smart on "normal" tasks i.e. viewing, listening, recording (ad hoc and scheduled, did not try yet with EPG). It works very well with my USB-Card and it's CI. Well done Jack  :)

One annoying thing is when using the CI (and only in this case) that the blue ribbon indicating Level and Quality and resolution would not disappear after a few seconds. Is there a method to disable the ribbon manually?

you can also copy ´smartdvb.db´ to an other place ...make a clean install and copy backwards ...

@snoop: note that from 0.3.5 some other files should also be copied when moving the databases around (-chm, -wal files), these are now also part of the database (0.3.5 b3 should also have a help file to explain some of these basic things).

Nope - it was always there (I mean since I am testing smdvb). Don't remember if it was like that also in the 0.3.0 but believe that I observed it also in Beta 2. And the permanence is only when viewing from CAM and there only from time to time. Is there a method to disable it with progtools (from within the progarm)?

@ritschibie: other then turning the entire legacy vmr osd off i see there's no option for that indeed atm. I'll have a look to also remove the legacy nfo screen with the current 'info' remote/keyboard mapping (i see it does actually remove the smartosd nfo data, haven't looked  much at the legacy vmr osd recently, don't use it myself, so i'll make some effort there tx)..
@ioosis: NoT PoSSiBlE :). SmartDVB's still more focussed towards optimizing DVB functionality.

Just happened to test once the "Play transport stream DVB file" and had a program crash. Is this related to the recording from CAM source? Tried it only once and will repeat this with uncrypted source and report here.

hmm, dada had issues with that too. Could be multiple issues. For one 'play transport stream DVB file' seemed to fail/have issues with timeshift disabled (i test mostly with timeshift enabled since i don't see much performance hits with regards to that). Other then that there could also be issues with the type of .TS file (when missing PAT/PMT etc). Did you try to run a .TS file recorded with smartdvb itself?

Indeed, I had timeshift disabled. I'll try it now with enabled timeshift. BTW, I have no problems playing ts-streams with "Open media file". The crash occurred with noncrypted files too.

Hi Jack,

Just wanted to confirm after several tests last week that the "Play Transport Stream DVB File" feature in smartdvb is working for me after enabling "timeshift".
It worked also with DVBViewer ts.files.

Is there a way to implement a "fast forward" function in the slider? As of now I'm only able to pull the slider to the right end to get a fast forward in the first 5 to 7 min of the ts.file then it returns to normal speed for the rest of the file. Just curious, you know  ;)

Yes indeed, you're correct that's not possible atm with that feature. It's implemented under the hood like 'live tv' but the buffer pump so to speak is just fed with data from a file. I think it might be possible ofcourse to implement some ff feature though since the data i sent is under my control ofcourse, but i'll not look at that for this version/release (might break too much), so noted for some future modification. Good to know btw it works for u.

@ioosis: No festivities for me. Yes indeed, that floating issue's been reported, should be ok for release. Not sure how that could have occured but that's the problem with programming sometimes minor modifcations lead to side effects. So no modifications for the release from now..
