Die Entwickler der freien Firewall OPNsense haben die neue Version 19.1 mit dem Namen »Inspiring Iguana« freigegeben. Die neue Version umfasst unter anderem ein Firewall Alias API und setzt auf HardenedBSD 11.2 auf.

Knapp sechs Monate nach der letzten Version steht mit OPNsense 19.1 »Inspiring Iguana« eine neue Version der offenen Firewall- und Routingplattform zum Bezug bereit. Die aktuelle Version vereint zahlreiche Verbesserungen und konzentriert sich auf die Verbesserung der Stabilität. Eine der wichtigsten Neuerungen der insgesamt 620 Änderungen stellt die Integration von HardenedBSD 11.2 dar. Das System basiert damit auf der letzten freigegebenen Version und enthält dementsprechend auch die Sicherheitsanpassungen der Basisdistribution.

Eine weitere Neuerung von OPNsense 19.1 »Inspiring Iguana« stellt die Einführung eines Firewall-Alias-APIS dar. Neu ist ebenfalls die Möglichkeit der Zweifaktor-Authentifizierung via LDAP-TOTP und eine WPAD/PAC sowie Parent-Proxy-Unterstützung in der Proxy-Konfiguration. Der Export von P12-Zertifikaten unterstützt eigene Passwörter und Dnsmasq DNSSEC. Zudem wurden diverse Anwendungen auf den neuesten Stand gebracht, darunter Perl, Phalcon, Unbound und Suricata sowie diverse Lokalisierungen, darunter auch Deutsch, aktualisiert.

Die neue Version kann ab sofort vom Server des Projektes in Form von ISO-Abbildern heruntergeladen werden. OPNsense ist eine offene Firewall- und Routingplattform, die auf FreeBSD basiert. Das System wurde 2014 als Fork von pfSense, das seinerseits eine Abspaltung von m0n0wall war, gestartet und 2015 in einer ersten stabilen Version herausgegeben. Die Funktionalität von OPNsense umfasst neben den grundlegenden Eigenschaften eines Firewall-Systems unter anderem die Möglichkeit einer Beschränkung und Prioritätsvergaben. Die Authentifizierung kann durch diverse Sicherheitsmechanismen erweitert werden und umfasst unter anderem eine Zweifaktorauthentifikation.

Windows Firewall Control is a powerful tool which extends the functionality of the Windows Firewall and provides quick access to the most frequent options of the Windows Firewall. It runs in the system tray and allows user to control the native firewall easily without having to waste time by navigating to the specific part of the firewall. This program is donationware.

– Fixed: Pressing on „Check this file“ in Rules Panel or Connections Log when the
program path is empty generates an exception in WFC log.
– Fixed: The connected location displayed in WFC is displayed as ‘VPN’ instead of
‘Public’ when multiple network adapters are active.
– Fixed: Checking for updates is made through http instead of https.

– New: The notifications for svchost.exe include now the service name which generated
the blocked connection under the Name. Creating a rule for svchost.exe from the
notification dialog will always include the service in the newly created rule.
