TinyWall ist eine zweite Verteidigungslinie hinter der in Windows eingebauten Firewall. Die Freeware kontrolliert den ein- und ausgehenden Datenfluss und blockt unautorisierten Datenaustausch.

TinyWall verzichtet bewusst auf Popup-Meldungen an den Anwender. Statt dessen arbeitet die Sicherheitssoftware mit so genannten White-Listen. Bis auf die wichtigsten Windows-Dienste blockt TinyWall zunächst alle Apps die eine Datenverbindung aufbauen wollen. Um eine Freigabe zu erhalten, steuert man die Software via dem Programmmenü in der Taskleiste. Hier editiert man mit wenigen Mausklicks die Verbindungsfreigabe sowie die Whitelist oder deaktiviert die Firewall.

Mit dem kostenlosen TinyWall verbessern sicherheitsbewusste Nutzer ihren Schutz bei Ausflügen ins Netz. Die Freeware sollte jedoch immer nur als sinnvolle Ergänzung zu einer bestehenden Firewall beziehungsweise Antivirensoftware angesehen werden.

New: New Security tab was added in the Main Panel which contains the Secure Boot and the new improved Secure Rules feature which automatically removes the rules that are added to a different Group than the defined list of authorized group names. This adds the possibility to the operating system to add required rules without being deleted anymore by WFC because Secure Rules was enabled. Also, unwanted firewall rules that may have been added before the start of WFC service can be detected this way
