 Mit FileZilla bedienen Sie sich aus den unerschöpflichen Programmpools der öffentlichen FTP-Server wie www.simtel.net oder laden sich Ihre Homepage auf den Server Ihres Providers. Der FTP-Client ist auch imstande, SSH-Verbindungen zu SFTP-Servern aufzunehmen. Dazu verwendet es Teile des Opensourceprogramms PuTTY. Interessant ist das bspw. für Uploads auf Server von Sourceforge.net. Ihre FTP-Accounts richten Sie über Datei - Seitenverwaltung ein. Up- bzw. Downloads lassen sich ganz einfach per Drag and Drop in Gang setzen. Wird ein Transfer aus irgendwelchen Gründen vorzeitig abgebrochen, so erlaubt Ihnen FileZilla, den Transfer dort wieder fortzusetzen! Dateien und Ordner können Sie außerdem in eine Warteschlange stellen, deren Inhalt im unteren Fensterbereich aufgelistet wird. Von hier können Sie zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt den Download veranlassen.

Nachdem es von der -zilla Front inzwischen zu so ziemlich jedem kostenpflichtigen Programm eine Alternative gibt, gehört natürlich auch ein FTP-Client zum Angebot. Wenn Sie Dateien von einem FTP-Server herunterladen oder auf einen FTP-Server hochladen möchten, ist dieses Programm dafür bestens geeignet.[/B]

FileZilla kann abgebrochene Downloads oder Uploads an der Abbruchstelle fortsetzen (vorausgesetzt der Server unterstützt diese Funktion) und bietet eine Reihe anderer nützlicher Features, so auch die Verschlüsselung von SFTP-Transfers mit SSL oder Kerberos GSS.

Von den Machern von FileZilla gibt es ebenfalls einen FTP-Server.
