Skype kommt in den Browser - als Webanwendung. Microsoft hat eine entsprechende Stellenausschreibung veröffentlicht.

Telefonate und Videochats über Skype werden in Zukunft nicht mehr unbedingt einen installierten Skype-Client voraussetzen. Microsoft hat eine Stellenausschreibung von Skype veröffentlicht, in der Entwickler für "Skype for Browsers" gesucht werden.

Die gesuchten Entwickler sollen bei der Microsoft-Tochtergesellschaft Skype in Prag angestellt werden und mit Skype- und Microsoft-Teams aus Schweden und USA zusammenarbeiten. Bei der Entwicklung gehe es darum, existierende Skype-Lösungen - offenbar auch mit HTML5 und Javascript - auf das Web zu portieren und auf der Backend-Seite auf aktuelle Microsoft-Technik zurückzugreifen.

"Das Resultat Ihrer Arbeit wird von hunderten Millionen dankbarer Nutzer weltweit eingesetzt werden", so die Stellenbeschreibung. Ab wann Skype als Webservice im Browser läuft, ist ihr aber nicht zu entnehmen.

Skype gibt es derzeit für Windows, Linux und mobile Plattformen wie Android, iOS und Windows Phone 7. Zudem gibt es eine Integration in Facebook, mit einem separaten Client, und verschiedene Unterhaltungselektronik mit Skype-Unterstützung.

SkypeLogView reads the log files created by Skype application, and displays the details of incoming/outgoing calls, chat messages, and file transfers made by the specified Skype account.

    When you use the SaveDirect mode, the log lines of Skype are saved directly to the disk, without loading them into the memory first. This means that you can save a list with large amount of log lines into your disk without any memory problem, as long as you have enough disk space to store the saved file. The drawback of this mode: You cannot sort the log lines according to the column you choose with /sort command-line option.
    The date/time range is now saved in the config file.
