Das Open-Source-Projekt Videolan hat am Donnerstagmorgen (Ortszeit) erneut eine aktualisierte Fassung seines kostenfreien Mediaplayers VLC in Version 1.1.4 zur Verfügung gestellt.

Das Programm wurde diesmal nur in einem einzigen Punkt überarbeitet: Ein generells Loch im Windows-Betriebssystem macht es Angreifern leicht, die Kontrolle über einen Rechner zu übernehmen. Der Bug wurde geschlossen, alle Benutzer sollten die VLC-Softwaree unbedingt aktualisieren, weil sie ebenfalls betroffen ist.

A bit after the 1.1.3, an important security issue was discovery in most windows applications, and VLC is affected too. Since security issues matters, here is a new release, targeted for the Windows platform!

The software offer you two resizing modes, VBR mode and CBR mode, variable bit rate mode or constant bit rate mode, the recommanded mode is the variable mode. You can downgrade the channel mode from stereo, j-stereo to mono for saving more memory, but is not recommanded for the quality of sound.

We just pushed out Build 83 (r28139) to all users, which is a small update that includes a few fixes for Twitter. Changes include:

    * Twitter will now correctly use the server time if your local time, date, timezone, or daylight savings preference is incorrect (previously you would get an authentication error)
    * Fixed a bug that would cause Digsby to go into a spin trying to reconnect to Twitter if their servers return an unexpected error.
    * Fixed a bug that caused HTML entities (ie: < > ‘ &) to show incorrectly in Twitter
