Einst war Nullsofts Winamp *der* MP3-Softwareplayer schlechthin; einige misslungene Versionen und die Übernahme durch AOL haben jedoch an dem Renommee der Software gekratzt.

Nun tritt Nullsoft mit einer Winamp-Betaversion für Android an, die mit durchaus einigen Funktionen aufwartet. So gleicht die kostenlos im Android Market verfügbare und unter Android 2.1 und neuer lauffähige App die Musiksammlung zwischen Desktop-Applikation (benötigt Winamp 5.59 Beta) und Handy nicht nur über USB, sondern auf Wunsch auf via WLAN ab. Darüber hinaus kann man im Unterschied zu vielen anderen Playern Abspiellisten auch auf dem Mobilgerät bearbeiten.

Darüber hinaus kann man Winamp (und Playlisten) dem Android-Homescreen als Widgets hinzufügen, den Player bei gesperrtem Display steuern und Informationen über die gespielten Titel an Last.fm übermitteln ("scrobbeln"), sofern die Last.fm-App auf dem Handy installiert ist.

Der altbekannte Spruch beim ersten Start des Players dürfte so manche Erinnerung an die eigenen MP3-Vergangenheit hervorbringen: "Winamp – it really whips the llama's ass!"

Die Freeware "Zortam Mp3 Media Studio" lässt keinen Wunsch offen, zumindest wenn es um Ihre MP3-Sammlung geht. ID3-Tags bearbeiten, CD-Cover im Internet finden, MP3s in WAV umwandeln und Audio-CDs erstellen.

Das Tool sucht nach Informationen und Covern auf Amazon. Die Bilder sind unter anderem auch zu iTunes kompatibel und können so auch für den Apple iPod verwendet werden.

Hinweis: Auf der Hersteller-Webseite können Sie das Tool auf eine Pro-Version updaten, denn einige Funktionen vom "Zortam Mp3 Media Studio" werden nach zwei Tagen eingeschränkt.
