Opera Software hat Release 11.60 ihres Browsers für Windows, Mac OS und Linux veröffentlicht. Einem grundlegenden Redesign wurde der Mailer unterzogen. So zeigt er jetzt per default in drei Spalten die Mailordner/ -Label, die Liste der Nachrichten eines Ordners sowie eine ausgewählte Nachricht an. Die Nachrichten eines Ordners gruppiert er nach Tagen.

Beim Browser selbst finden sich die Neuerungen vor allem unter der Oberfläche. So enthält er seit dem Beta-Release einen HTML5-Parser - ein weiterer Schritt in Richtung Browser-Kompatibilität: Sobald eines Tages alle Browser einen solchen Parser verwenden, der nach W3C-Regeln das Markup zerlegt, produzieren alle den gleichen DOM-Baum.

Neu sind ebenfalls die Unterstützung für HTML5-Mikroformate sowie die volle Unterstützung von ECMAScript 5.1. Neben einigen kleinen Sicherheitsproblemen behebt die neue Version auch ein "mittelschweres Problem", dessen Details Opera Software erst zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt veröffentlichen will. Release notes and known issues
Mac

    The Mac version is a dual build containing both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Opera. Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and newer will automatically run the 64-bit version; older versions will fall back to the 32-bit version.
    Text is sometimes incorrectly drawn: some bits or entire blocks are skipped, and letters might be wrongly displayed.
    Web fonts do not work yet. We recommend setting opera:config#UserPrefs|EnableWebfonts to 0 to disable web fonts.

Windows

    On 64-bit Windows versions, you can choose between the separate 32-bit and 64-bit builds.
    On 32-bit Windows versions only the 32-bit build will work.
    Older versions of Flash might give performance problems. Use the newest version of Flash to test this build.
    Interactions with plug-ins may occasionally freeze Opera for 7 seconds.

Linux/FreeBSD

Xt-based plugins are not supported, for example VLC and Adobe Reader.

Opera Software hat den Browser Opera in der Version 11.61 veröffentlicht. Mit dem Update werden zwei Sicherheitslücken und zahlreiche Absturzursachen beseitigt. Der Browser soll nun insgesamt stabiler und zuverlässiger arbeiten.

Mit dem Update auf Opera 11.61 sollen zwei Sicherheitslücken im Browser beseitigt werden. Das eine Sicherheitsleck stuft der Hersteller als gefährlich ein. Über eine Cross-Site-Scripting-Attacke lässt sich beliebiger Code auf einer Webseite ausführen. Von der zweiten Sicherheitslücke geht nur eine geringe Gefährdung aus. Angreifer könnten darüber den Pfad einer Datei ausfindig machen.

Sowohl im Browser selbst als auch im E-Mail-Client von Opera wurden etliche Absturzursachen beseitigt. Damit soll der Browser nun insgesamt stabiler und zuverlässiger als bisher agieren. Im E-Mail-Client funktioniert das Tastenkürzel Strg-K nun wieder für alle eingetragenen E-Mail-Konten. Außerdem wurde der Fehler korrigiert, dass gesperrte Dateianhänge nach einigen Sekunden aus einer E-Mail verschwanden, wie der Hersteller verspricht.

Sortierungsprobleme mit ungruppierten Mailinglisten wurden beseitigt und die Anzahl der ungelesenen E-Mails wird nun wieder korrekt angezeigt. Auf Systemen mit Windows XP zeigt der Browser im Vollbildmodus nicht mehr fälschlicherweise die Titelleiste an. Auf Systemen mit Mac OS X 10.5 konnten Plugins nicht angeklickt werden und auf Linux-Systemen wurden Darstellungsfehler beseitigt.

Mit Opera 11.60 erhielt der Browser Anfang Dezember 2011 einen neuen HTML5-Parser, der einen weiteren Geschwindigkeitsschub versprochen hatte. Die aktualisierte Version der Javascript-Engine Carakan benötigt nach Herstellerangaben nochmals weniger Speicher bei komplexen Webapplikationen und die Wiedergabe von HTML5-Videos wurde optimiert. Zudem wurde der E-Mail-Client umfangreich überarbeitet und hat eine dreispaltige Ansicht erhalten. Außerdem gab es neue Symbole und Toolleisten sowie neue Darstellungsoptionen.

Opera 11.61 steht ab sofort für Windows, Mac OS und Linux unter anderem in deutscher Sprache zum Herunterladen bereit.
