MozillaCacheView reads the cache folder of Mozilla Firefox and Netscape web browsers, and displays the list of all files currently stored in the cache. For each cache file, the following is displayed: URL, Content type, File size, Last modified time, Last fetched time, Expiration time, Fetch count, Server name, and more. You can select one or more items from the cache list, and then extract the files to another folder, or copy the URLs list to the clipboard.

Die Mozilla-Entwickler wollen für den Web-Browser die Übersicht der meistbesuchten Websites auf neuen Tabs ändern: Dort ließe sich für neue Nutzer Werbung unterbringen.

Mozilla plant für seinen Web-Browser Firefox Änderungen an der Darstellung, wenn ein neuer Tab geöffnet wird. Auf neu geöffneten, leeren Tabs gibt Firefox dem Nutzer eine Übersicht der am meisten besuchten Webseiten in Form von neun Kacheln. Neuen Nutzern würde sich allerdings mangels Browserhistorie eine leere Tab-Seite darbieten.

Mozilla will die neue Tab-Seite nun zumindest für neue Nutzer anders als bislang füllen: mit Verweisen auf Mozilla-Seiten und auf populäre Webseiten abhängig vom Standort des Nutzers sowie mit von Sponsoren bezahlten Kacheln. Diese sollen auch als solche gekennzeichnet werden, erläutert Darren Herman, bei Mozilla für Content Services zuständig.

Wann die neuen Kacheln eingeführt werden sollen, steht noch nicht fest. Details zu den "Directory Tiles" genannten Verweisen seien noch nicht festgelegt, schreibt Herman. Gespräche mit Inhalte-Anbietern würde nun aufgenommen. Mozilla war einer Einladung zum Jahrestreffen der Werbevereinigung Interactive Advertising Bureau gefolgt, auf der Herman die Pläne erläuterte.
