Finally here is the new version 1.0 beta 1 which has some mighty new features. I took some time (mainly the complete change to unicode character set), but alls well that ends well…
Here comes a list of the new features:

+ Better Windows 7 support (like progress display in taskbar icon, storage of user data in the correct folders, etc.)
+ Free selection of first track track number (including option to continue numbering from the last inserted CD)
+ Option to always write the log file in english language
+ Option for writing a checksum over the extraction log data to the log file
+ Average extraction speed is listed in the log file
+ Possibility to write only V2 tags (and no V1 tags)
+ Free choice of replacement characters for filenames
+ Range copy selects now the first selected consecutive range of tracks as default
+ New folder browser dialog (system dialog for folders)
+ Added two placeholders for filename creation for track length (min and sec)

The released beta 3 of EAC is probably the first really stable 1.0 version, as many more bugs are fixed.
For an exact list, please read the News.rtf file, which is stored in the EAC directory by the installer (and which can be accessed via the start menu).
This version includes the CTDB plugin written by Gregory Chudov.
It will not be installed by default, you need to check the plugin option in the installer.
If everything works as expected, the next version of EAC will come with the CTDB plugin installed by default. So try it out now!

Release Notes
The last update was a really long time ago, but finally here comes a new version of EAC.
There are no larger new features, but bug fixes mainly regarding drive detection and problems on installing the .NET plugins made it necessary to release this service update.
Also I updated the freedb++ plugin, so that it again finds more covers to choose from. This plugin will be released as public domain shortly (I always wanted to do that, but I always wanted to comment the whole code first – I gave up on that…)
Finally I updated several included external components, like CTDB and Flac.
Hopefully everything works right out of the box, as there aren’t that much changes in it anyway.

Release Notes
This release enables the parallel conversion mode introduced in 20140921 by default. The parallel mode runs multiple file conversions at the same time on multi-core processors, thus speeding up conversion times. It will make use of all physical CPU cores by default and can be configured to also use virtual/HT cores.
fre:ac 20150705 also introduces support for verifying lossless output files such as FLAC or ALAC. This can be enabled in the configuration dialog and will add a verification step for each conversion to a lossless format where the output file is decoded again and compared to the original input.
The new release also fixes some issues, especially with the OS X version:
Crashes when trying to add audio CD contents on OS X
Distorted audio playback on OS X
Ejecting CDs did not work on OS X and Linux
Several minor issues are fixed in addition to this and codecs are updated to their latest versions.

fre:ac snapshot 20170729 has been released and is now available for download!
The new release includes a simple protocol viewer and improves handling of several audio formats. It changes the way virtual .aiff files generated for audio CD tracks on macOS are handled to prevent the CD drive from constantly repositioning the laser, allows decoding some .m4a files with defective headers that previous versions rejected and adds support for decoding ATRAC-1 files.
The new version also introduces some performance optimizations that can speed up parallel conversions by up to 5% and updates all codecs to the latest versions, most notably the Opus codec to the new 1.2 release.
In addition, fre:ac 20170729 includes lots of minor improvements and fixes for issues found in earlier versions of fre:ac.

ccccd stands for Channel Code Copy of Compact Discs designed to archive the complete content of CDs on the channel code layer.
This project has the goal to archive the complete content of CDs on the channel code layer. Here, the NRZI signal which stems from the laser-pickup of a CD player is recorded directly, providing sort of a pit-land photo of the CD. The resulting image file, in turn, is demodulated and decoded in software within a virtual CD player. The digital audio channel code on LaserDiscs and CD Video discs can be handled as well.
Note: The image extraction functionality requires a proprietary hardware interface in combination with a modified disc player.
